The Finance Association encompasses both the local chapter of the Financial Management Association (FMA) and the FMA National Honorary Society. We are a registered student organization and have regularly been recognized as a Superior Chapter of FMA International.
Our members usually wish to pursue careers in finance, but some simply have an interest in finance and want to learn more about it. Many of our meetings feature a guest speaker, someone who has excelled and become a leader in the field, and is willing to share the secrets of his or her success.
We welcome all undergraduate and MBA students. For new members, local chapter dues are $25, payable by check to the Finance Association or in cash. National Honor Society dues are separate and are paid to the FMA.
Our meetings are held first and third Wednesdays of the month at 5:30 pm in Galloway 242 (College of Business building). For a full list of meetings and events, check our calendar located in the display case on the first floor of Galloway, our , or OrgSync.
Founded over 50 years ago, the FMA National Honor Society recognizes scholastic achievement through the induction of students who have demonstrated superior scholarship.
Individuals accepted for membership in the Honor Society have the distinction of belonging to the only international honor society that specifically recognizes the achievement of finance majors. As such, it serves to acknowledge their educational achievements in the areas of financial economics and decision making.
The requirements for undergraduate membership are an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 and a GPA of 3.25 in at least six hours of finance-related course work. The requirements are similar for graduate students, except that the benchmark for both GPAs is 3.50.
The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Student Chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA, Inc.), is a nonprofit membership association dedicated to bridging the opportunity gap for people of color in accounting, finance, consulting, information technology and other related business professions.
Representing more than 200,000 people of color in these fields, NABA, Inc. advances people, advances careers, and advances the mission by providing education, resources and meaningful career connections to both professional and student members, fulfilling the principle of our motto: Lifting as we climb. This is made possible, in part, through the support of our corporate partners and the strength of our volunteer network.
